This fall, I had the absolute joy of completing my first commissioned crochet project—and it couldn’t have been more magical. A sweet little girl who adores Easter, bunnies, and all things purple asked for a custom bunny backpack, and I knew right away this was going to be something special.

🧶 The Pattern Mash-Up
To bring her vision to life, I blended two free patterns:
- The Mushroom Crochet Backpack by Green Fox Farms Designs gave me the perfect base—roomy, sturdy, and easy to customize.
- For the ears, I followed the Bunny Backpack pattern from A Crafty Concept, which added the perfect touch of whimsy.
I even used the pompom maker from my amigurumi kit to create the fluffy bunny tail. It was my first time using it, and I’m officially hooked—so much easier than the cardboard method!
🎨 Yarn Choices That Sparked Joy
- Body: Red Heart Super Saver in Medium Purple—classic, durable, and her favorite color
- Ears: Mainstays Medium Acrylic in White and Pink—soft and easy to shape
- Straps: Mainstays Sparkle Acrylic in Sweet Violet—because every bunny deserves a little shimmer
The color combo came together like a dream, and the sparkle straps added just the right amount of magic.
💜 Why This Project Meant So Much
Making this backpack reminded me why I keep coming back to crochet. It’s not just about the stitches—it’s about creating something that brings joy, even when my energy is low. This project was fun, manageable, and meaningful, and I’m so proud of how it turned out.
