I Never Set Out to Build a Work-From-Home Career
I never had a grand plan to quit my job, build a six-figure business, or become a full-time influencer.
My goal has always been much simpler: find ways to make a little money from the things I’m already doing—or the things I genuinely want to do.
Enough to help with the bills. Enough to make a hobby pay for itself. Enough to turn something I enjoy into something that contributes to our household.
And, just as importantly, I wanted work that could bend around my life instead of requiring my life to bend around it.
I wanted to be able to create on the days I could create, rest on the days I needed to rest, and—eventually—build things that could continue working even when I wasn’t.
It turns out I’ve been trying to figure out how to do that for a very long time.
Before Angel Wings It, There Was Hot Mom Tips
Long before anyone was calling me an Amazon Influencer or Walmart Creator, I was entering giveaways.
A lot of giveaways.
At one point, I was entering 20–30 of them every single day. I started Hot Mom Tips mostly as a place to blog about my favorites and share the opportunities I was finding.
And it worked.
After a while, I was winning something almost every day. One year, my kids had an amazing Christmas and we didn’t have to spend a dime on their gifts because I’d won so much throughout the year.
But something else was happening at the same time.
Blogging about giveaways started opening doors to product testing.
Companies would send me products to try. Sometimes I’d receive one for myself and additional products to give away to my readers. I reviewed products on the blog, worked with brands, and even made some very early product-review videos for YouTube that I embedded in my posts.
Those videos are long gone now—which is probably for the best—but apparently I’ve been making product reviews much longer than I realized.
I also became an Amazon Associate during those Hot Mom Tips days.
None of this was part of some carefully designed business strategy. I was doing something I enjoyed, sharing what I found, and figuring out ways for it to benefit my family along the way.
Then life happened.
Hot Mom Tips gradually fell by the wayside, and for a long time, so did that entire part of my life.
Angel Wings It Was a New Beginning—and a Winding One
Years later, I started what would become Angel Wings It.
The original idea was actually much closer to a grown-up version of Hot Mom Tips than what the site eventually became. I wanted to talk about the things I was doing, the things I was trying, and how I was figuring out ways to make life and earning money work for me.
But Angel Wings It took the scenic route.
There was meditation. There was AI art. There were experiments and ideas that went somewhere and others that didn’t.
Then, in 2023, I started crocheting in earnest again.
Crochet gave me something I genuinely wanted to create and talk about, so it naturally became the primary focus of Angel Wings It.
Around the same time, in August 2023, I joined the Amazon Influencer Program.
I’d already been an Amazon Associate since the Hot Mom Tips era, but I honestly don’t remember what made me apply for the Influencer Program. It may have been an email, a YouTube video, an Instagram post, or something else entirely.
I’m not even completely certain which of my social accounts Amazon approved me through.
My best guess is my professional Facebook profile because my Amazon Storefront initially showed the name Davryanna, which is still connected to my Facebook username, and Facebook has historically been my most engaged social platform.
But that’s a guess, and I’d rather tell you when I don’t know something than turn a guess into a fact.
Getting Into Amazon Influencer Was Only the Beginning
Getting accepted into the Influencer Program and getting approved for onsite commissions are also two different things.
It took me more than one attempt to get my first three videos approved for onsite placement.
Because I wasn’t certain which social account Amazon had originally approved, before my second attempt I engaged like crazy across all of them.
Eventually, I got in.
And then…
I really didn’t do that much with it.
From 2023 through the spring of 2026, crochet was my primary focus. Amazon Influencer was something nice I had on the side.
I’d make a few product videos here and there. If Amazon was running a promotion, I might suddenly get motivated and make more. During Q4, I’d post deals like mad.
But I wasn’t treating it as a consistent part of my business.
Amazon Influencer income was a bonus.
Until May 2026.
What Happens If I Actually Take This Seriously?
By May, I’d reached a frustrating realization: there was only so far I could stretch the money we already had.
I needed to bring in more.
But I didn’t suddenly want to build myself a conventional work-from-home job.
I already had something.
I had a blog. I had social accounts. I had years of experience creating content. I was already an Amazon Influencer. I had products sitting around my house that I could genuinely review.
So I decided to run an experiment.
What would happen if I stopped treating Amazon Influencer as a nice little bonus and focused consistently on making onsite product videos?
I started making more videos.
Then I made more.
I started paying attention to what worked, improving my filming and editing, developing better systems, repurposing what I’d already created, and becoming much more intentional about the whole process.
And something happened that I wasn’t entirely expecting.
My content got better everywhere.
Making videos consistently made me better at making videos.
Creating consistently made it easier to create consistently.
I became faster. I learned better workflows. I started seeing more opportunities to turn one piece of work into several useful pieces of content instead of constantly starting from zero.
And yes—my income started rising too.
Consistency really does matter.
But that creates a problem.
What If You Can’t Be Consistent Every Day?
This is where my approach differs from a lot of the “make money online” advice you’ll find.
I can have incredibly productive days.
I can also have days when I need to rest.
So advice that boils down to “Just show up every single day!” isn’t particularly useful to me.
I don’t need a business that only works if I can perform at exactly the same level seven days a week.
I need systems that let me take advantage of the days when I can work and keep things moving on the days when I can’t.
That’s why I’ve become increasingly interested in batching, scheduling, repurposing, evergreen content and automation.
It’s also why the tools I use matter so much.
Right now, some of the tools that make the biggest difference in my creator workflow include Oink, Cha-Ching, Influencer Butler, Canva and CapCut.
They solve different problems.
Influencer Butler, for example, is increasingly trying to replace some of the things I use other tools for. It hasn’t replaced them for me yet. Oink and Cha-Ching still have strengths that keep them in my workflow.
But Influencer Butler does other things that save me enough time and repetitive work that I’ve decided it’s worth paying for alongside them.
That’s the kind of thing I want to talk about here.
Not because I think everyone needs my exact collection of tools.
Because I want to know whether something is actually worth the work, money and attention it requires.
And if I’ve already done the experimenting, I might as well tell you what I learned.
That’s Really What Angel Wings It Is
Looking back, I’ve realized Angel Wings It has somehow come almost full circle.
Hot Mom Tips started because I was trying things, finding opportunities and sharing what I discovered.
Today I’m still doing that.
The opportunities are different.
Instead of entering 30 giveaways before breakfast, I’m making product videos, writing blog posts, designing crochet patterns, creating affiliate content, testing creator tools, experimenting with automation and figuring out which opportunities are actually worth pursuing.
But the philosophy underneath it hasn’t changed very much:
Do things I already enjoy or genuinely want to do. Find practical ways to monetize them. Make the work I’ve already done keep working for me. And don’t build myself another job that requires me to produce at full capacity every single day.
I’m not here to promise that you’ll quit your job in 30 days.
I’m not trying to convince you that everyone should become a full-time influencer.
And I’m definitely not going to tell you that every tool, platform or “opportunity” I try is wonderful.
Some work.
Some don’t.
Some work but aren’t worth the effort.
And occasionally I find something that makes me wonder why I spent so long doing things the hard way.
That’s what I want to share here.

This isn’t about doing everything. It’s about finding ways to make the things that matter more manageable.
I Want to Make My Creativity Pay
This is the newest chapter of Angel Wings It, but in a lot of ways it’s also the oldest.
I’ll share what I’m actually doing with the Amazon Influencer Program, Walmart Creator, affiliate marketing, blogging, product videos and other creator opportunities—along with the tools, workflows and automation I use to make it all manageable.
That includes the successes, the experiments, the things that weren’t worth the effort and the tools I actually keep using after the excitement of trying something new wears off.

You don’t necessarily have to build an entirely new life to create another source of income.
Sometimes it’s worth looking at what you’re already doing.
